Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Executive – Tea & Beverage Solutions to support the expansion of Finlays Tea and tea-related products within the assigned market. This role will function as an indirect sales representative on a commission basis and will play a key role in generating business opportunities, building strong client relationships, and driving revenue growth.

The selected candidate will represent Finlays within the China market and work closely with internal teams to identify leads, engage potential customers, and support long-term business growth strategies. The role also involves market mapping, industry analysis, and maintaining close coordination with the company to ensure successful customer engagement and market penetration.

Key Responsibilities

Lead Generation & Prospecting

  • Identify and engage potential customers through networking, cold calling, referrals, and market research.
  • Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective clients within the tea and beverage industry.
  • Conduct market mapping and identify emerging business opportunities within the assigned territory.

Product Presentation & Sales

  • Present and promote Finlays Tea and tea-related products to prospective clients.
  • Clearly communicate product features, benefits, and value propositions tailored to customer requirements.
  • Support the preparation of proposals, quotations, and sales presentations.

Negotiation & Deal Closing

  • Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, and agreements with clients in coordination with the Head of Department.
  • Support the sales process from initial engagement through successful closure.
  • Ensure timely follow-up and customer communication throughout the sales cycle.

Client Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong long-term relationships with both existing and new customers.
  • Act as a trusted point of contact for clients and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Identify opportunities for repeat business and account expansion.

Market Reporting & Analysis

  • Monitor and analyze Ceylon Tea market trends, industry developments, and competitor activities.
  • Provide insights on customer demand, pricing trends, potential buyers, and go-to-market opportunities.
  • Share market intelligence and strategic recommendations to support business growth.

Internal Collaboration

  • Coordinate closely with internal teams including sales, marketing, customer support, and operations.
  • Ensure smooth communication between customers and the company to deliver a seamless customer experience.
  • Assist in addressing customer feedback and resolving commercial issues effectively.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in sales, business development, or marketing related to Tea, Beverage Solutions, FMCG, or a related industry.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in both Mandarin and English.
  • Excellent negotiation, presentation, and relationship management skills.
  • Previous exposure to the tea industry, Bubble Tea manufacturers, or RTD (Ready-to-Drink) beverage producers will be a strong advantage.
  • Good understanding of customer relationship management (CRM) systems and sales reporting tools.
  • Strong market research and analytical capabilities.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently in a target-driven environment.
  • Willingness to travel to Finlays Colombo for complete product and company training.

  • Ability to build strategic relationships and identify new market opportunities.
  • Highly organized with strong follow-up and coordination skills.
  • Familiarity with the China tea and beverage market would be an added advantage.
