Senior Assistant Accountant (Management Accountant Level)

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Assistant Accountant to support the finance function of the organization. The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting expertise with hands-on experience in management reporting, import costing, inventory valuation, and audit coordination. This role requires excellent analytical capabilities, sound financial knowledge, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced business environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts and financial reports.
- Perform bank reconciliations and manage day-to-day banking transactions efficiently.
- Handle correspondence and maintain professional relationships with banks and other financial institutions.
- Liaise with external auditors and ensure timely completion of statutory and internal audits.
- Assist in import costing and inventory/stock valuation processes.
- Support financial auditing activities and maintain compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Maintain, update, and monitor financial records using ERP systems and accounting software.
- Prepare and present Management Information Reports (MIRs) to support business decision-making.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality of financial information.
- Assist in improving accounting procedures and internal controls.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in accounting, preferably in the sectors of:
- Import Operations
- Storage & Warehousing
- Sales & Marketing
- After Sales Service
- Strong expertise in import costing and inventory valuation is essential.
- Proven experience in preparing and presenting Management Information Reports (MIRs).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in an audit firm is mandatory.
- Professional accounting qualification (partly qualified or fully qualified) will be an added advantage.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and familiarity with ERP/accounting packages is essential.

- Excellent communication skills in English and Sinhala; proficiency in Tamil will be an added advantage.
